The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has dismissed suggestions that his return to the agency in 2012 is to do a hatchet’s job. He says that he also did not lobby to return to the EFCC during the tenure of his predecessor, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, claiming his ordeal is a punishment for being the Chief Investigative Officer of many high-profile cases. These are the highlights of his response to a query by Justice Minister Abubakar Malami (SAN) based on the allegations against him by the Department of State Security Service (DSS). The response was published yesterday by Premium Times Newspaper. Magu denied that his rented official apartment was furnished at a cost of N43million and pointed out that he is never known for ostentatious living and his new office as acting chairman of the EFCC has not changed his lifestyle.
